Amendment of section 54

Section 54 of the principal Act is hereby amended —

(a)

by deleting the word “workroom” appearing in the eighth and in the last lines of subsection (1) thereof and substituting therefor in each case the word “workplace”;

(b)

by deleting the words “working room” appearing in the third line of subsection (5) thereof and substituting therefor the word “workplace”;

(c)

by inserting immediately after subsection (4) thereof the following new subsection: —“(5) The requirements of subsections (1) and (3) of this section shall not apply to any workplace where it is impracticable to comply with such requirements and where breathing apparatus is used by a person working thereat.”; and

(d)

by renumbering the existing subsection (5) thereof as subsection (6).
