SECOND SCHEDULESection 50.Amendments of the Broadcasting and Television Act (Chapter 83)
1. Sections 3 and 4 are repealed.
2. Sections 6 and 7 are repealed and the following substituted therefor: —“Licensing of broadcasting station6.—
No person shall establish any broadcasting station in Singapore except under or in accordance with a licence granted under this Act.(2) Every such licence shall be in such form and for such period and may contain such terms and conditions as the Minister may determine.(3) In granting a licence under this Act, the Minister may require the licensee to pay a premium for the issue of the licence or such annual fee as the Minister may determine.Penalties
7. Any person who establishes a broadcasting station without a licence shall be guilty of an offence under this Act and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding two thousand dollars or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding twelve months.”.
3. In section 12(1), —
insert, at the end of paragraph (b) thereof, the word “and”;
delete paragraphs (c), (d), (e), (f), (g), (h) and (i) thereof; and
re-letter paragraph (j) thereof as paragraph (c).
4. Insert, immediately after section 15 thereof, the following section: —“Singapore Broadcasting Corporation15A. This Act shall not apply to the Singapore Broadcasting Corporation established under the Singapore Broadcasting Corporation Act, 1979.”.
