Clause 23

Damaging, etc., of fire-hydrants

(1)

Any person who —

(a)

not being a member of the Fire Service takes water from a fire-hydrant other than for the extinguishment of a fire without the consent of the Director or the Public Utilities Board, as the case may be; or

(b)

wilfully damages a fire-hydrant,shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding two thousand dollars.

(2)

Any person convicted of an offence under paragraph (b) of subsection (1) shall, in addition to the fine imposed on him under that subsection, also be liable to pay compensation to the Public Utilities Board for any expenses reasonably incurred in repairing or replacing such hydrant.
