Amendment of section 7

Section 7 of the Pensions Act is amended by deleting subsection (5) and substituting the following subsection:“(5) For the purposes of subsection (4), “minimum age” means —

(a)

in the case of an officer who is entitled to retire at the age of 45 years — 45 years;

(b)

in the case of an officer appointed to the public service before the commencement of the Pensions (Amendment) Act 1986 other than an officer referred to in paragraph (a) — 50 years; and

(c)

in the case of an officer appointed to the public service on or after the commencement of the Pensions (Amendment) Act 1986 other than an officer referred to in paragraph (a) —

(i)

50 years if he is entitled to retire at the age of 50 or 55 years; and

(ii)

55 years if he is entitled to retire at the age of 60 years.”.
