New section 79A

The principal Act is amended by inserting, immediately after section 79, the following section:“Employee of Board may require evidence of identity in certain cases79A.—

(1)

Any police officer or employee of the Board who reasonably believes that any person has committed an offence under this Act or any rules made thereunder may require such person to furnish evidence of his identity and the person shall thereupon furnish such evidence of his identity as may be required by such police officer or employee of the Board.(2) Any Town Council established under section 4 of the Town Councils Act [Cap. 329A] or —

(a)

any member of the Town Council or of any committee of the Town Council appointed under section 31 of that Act; or

(b)

any employee of the Town Council,to whom the Board has delegated any of its powers under section 29(3A) who reasonably believes that any person has committed an offence under any rules made under this Act within the Town of the Town Council, may, subject to the production of his authority when requested, require such person to furnish evidence of the person’s identity and that person shall thereupon furnish such evidence of his identity as may be so required.(3) Any person who refuses to furnish any information required of him by any police officer, any employee of the Board or any person referred to in subsection (2), or wilfully mis-states such information, shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $200.”.
