Amendment of section 69

Section 69 of the principal Act is amended —

(a)

by deleting the words “$6,000 or of an amount equal to 50 cents for each elector on the register, whichever amount shall be the larger” in the sixth, seventh and eighth lines of subsection (1) and substituting the words “the amount determined in accordance with the Third Schedule”;

(b)

by deleting subsection (1A); and

(c)

by inserting, immediately after subsection (2), the following subsections:“(3) The Minister may by order amend the Third Schedule; and every such order shall be presented to Parliament as soon as possible after publication in the Gazette.(4) Where a writ of election has been issued under section 24 for an election in any electoral division, no order under subsection (3) shall be made until after the day of nomination or, if a poll is to be taken, until after polling day of that election.”.
