Clause 17

Polling day to be public holiday

(1)

Polling day at any election shall be a public holiday as though it had been so expressly appointed in addition to the days mentioned in any written law for the time being in force relating to holidays.

(2)

Nothing in any written law for the time being in force relating to holidays shall affect the performance on the polling day of any act or thing relating to public offices and departments concerned with elections or of the duty to vote at elections imposed by section 26.
