New section 94A

The principal Act is amended by inserting, immediately after section 94, the following section:“Society to apply to court for cases involving fraud or dishonesty94A.—

(1)

Where an advocate and solicitor has been convicted of an offence involving fraud or dishonesty, whether the offence was disclosed as a result of an investigation under section 87(2A)(b) or otherwise, the Society shall, without further direction or directions, proceed to make an application in accordance with section 98.(2) Where there is an appeal against conviction, the Society shall not make an application under subsection (1) until the appeal has been withdrawn or deemed to have been withdrawn or disposed of by the appellate court.”.
