Transitional provisions
(1)
For the purpose of the first appointment of the members of the Board under section 3, the reference in subsection (1)(b) of that section to a registered contact lens practitioner shall be read as a reference to any person who —
immediately prior to the appointed day, had been practising as a contact lens practitioner; and
possesses such degree, diploma or qualification in or in relation to optometry or contact lens practice which the Minister is satisfied renders him fit for appointment as a member of the Board.
(2)
Notwithstanding anything in this Act, every person who immediately before the appointed day has been practising as a contact lens practitioner shall be entitled to practise as a contact lens practitioner as if this Act had not been enacted —
for a period of one month from that day; and
if before the expiry of that period he applies for registration or for a provisional licence under this Act, until the date on which he is registered or a provisional licence is granted to him, or on which his application is refused or withdrawn.
