Repeal and re-enactment of section 23, and new section 23A
Section 23 of the principal Act is repealed and the following sections substituted therefor:“Composition of offences23.—
The Corporation may, in its discretion, compound any offence under this Act or any regulations made thereunder by collecting from a person reasonably suspected of having committed the offence a sum not exceeding $500.(2) On payment of such sum of money, no further proceedings shall be taken against that person in respect of the offence.Saving of prosecution under other written law23A. Nothing in this Act shall prevent any person from being prosecuted under any other written law for any act, omission, neglect or default which constitutes an offence under this Act or any regulations made thereunder, or from being liable under that other written law to any punishment or penalty, higher or other than that provided by this Act or any regulations made thereunder except that no person shall be punished twice for the same offence.”.
