Clause 29

Power to obtain information

(1)

The Director may, by notice in writing served on any person, require that person to furnish him, within such time and in such form as is specified in the notice, any information specified in the notice which he may reasonably require for the purpose of exercising and performing his functions, duties or powers under this Act.

(2)

A person who —

(a)

fails without reasonable excuse to comply with any of the requirements of a notice served on him under subsection (1); or

(b)

in purported compliance with such a notice, makes any statement to the Director which he knows to be incorrect in a material respect or recklessly makes any statement to the Director which is incorrect in a material respect or knowingly omits any material particular,shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $10,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months or to both.
