Clause 11

Amendment of section 23

Section 23 of the Accountants Act is amended —

(a)

by deleting the word “or” at the end of subsection (1)(e);

(b)

by deleting the full-stop at the end of paragraph (f) of subsection (1) and substituting a semi-colon, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following paragraphs:“(g)who has become insolvent or who has been adjudged a bankrupt or who has entered into a composition with any creditor;

(h)

who has become of unsound mind; or

(i)

who has applied for his registration to be cancelled.”; and

(c)

by inserting, immediately after subsection (2), the following subsection:“(3) The Board shall not grant an application under subsection (1)(i) if the Board is satisfied that —

(a)

disciplinary action is pending against the applicant; or

(b)

the conduct of the applicant is the subject of an inquiry or investigation by an Inquiry Committee.”.
