Powers of arrest
(1)
The Director or any veterinary public health officer, police officer or officer of customs may arrest without warrant any person he sees or finds committing or attempting to commit or whom he reasonably suspects of being engaged in committing or attempting to commit any offence under this Act or the rules, if the person refuses to furnish his name and address or furnishes an address out of Singapore or there are reasonable grounds for believing that he has furnished a false name or address or that he is likely to abscond.
(2)
The Director or any veterinary public health officer, police officer or officer of customs making an arrest without warrant shall, subject to subsection (3), without unnecessary delay bring the person arrested before a Magistrate's Court.
(3)
No person who has been arrested by the Director or any veterinary public health officer, police officer or officer of customs shall be released, except on his own bond or on bail or on the special order in writing of the Magistrate or the Director.
