Clause 3
Administration of Act and appointment of officers, etc.
(1)
The Director shall be responsible for the administration of this Act, subject to the general or special directions of the Minister.
(2)
The Director may appoint any public officer to be a veterinary public health officer who, subject to such conditions and limitations as may be specified by the Director, may perform all duties imposed and exercise all powers conferred on the Director or a veterinary public health officer by this Act or the rules.
(3)
The Director may, with the approval of the Minister, in writing authorise any officer of any statutory board to perform any of the duties imposed and exercise any of the powers conferred on the Director or a veterinary public health officer by this Act or the rules subject to such conditions and limitations as may be specified by the Director.
(4)
The Director and any veterinary public health officer appointed under subsection (2), and any officer of any statutory board who is authorised by the Director under subsection (3) to perform any of the duties or to exercise any of the functions of a veterinary public health officer, shall be deemed to be public servants within the meaning of the Penal Code (Cap. 224).
(5)
The Director may designate any person or body of persons to carry out at any appointed place any inspection, examination and certification of any meat product or fish product under this Act.
