Clause 17

by deleting subsection (1) and substituting the following subsection:“(1) Where any instrument, whether executed or not and whether previously stamped or not, is brought to the Commissioner and the person bringing it applies to the Commissioner as to whether the instrument is chargeable with any duty and, if so, the amount of duty chargeable, the Commissioner shall, upon payment of the relevant adjudication fee prescribed in the Fourth Schedule, adjudicate and assess the duty with which, in his judgment, the instrument is chargeable.”;

by inserting, immediately after the word “conveyance,” in subsection (3), the word “lease,”;

by deleting the words “a fee for such certification at the following rates:” in the 6th line of subsection (4) and substituting the words “a fee as specified in the Fifth Schedule.”;

by deleting paragraphs (a), (b) and (c) of subsection (4); and

by deleting subsection (6).
