Amendment of section 19

Section 19 of the Accountants Act is amended —

(a)

by deleting the words “to hear and determine any complaint of the conduct of a public accountant in his professional capacity or of any other improper act or conduct on his part which brings disrepute to his profession or which makes him unfit for his profession” in the 5th to 9th lines of subsection (1) and substituting the words “for any of the purposes specified in subsection (1A)”; and

(b)

by inserting, immediately after subsection (1), the following subsection:“(1A) An Inquiry Committee may be appointed by the Board to inquire into —

(a)

any complaint made to or information received by the Board touching on the conduct of any public accountant;

(b)

any complaint made to or information received by the Board touching on the conduct of business by any accounting corporation; or

(c)

any application to the Board that a public accountant or an accounting corporation be dealt with under this Part,other than an application, a complaint or information touching on any matter set out in section 23 or 23A.”.
