Clause 31

Related amendments to Business Registration Act

The Business Registration Act (Cap. 32) is amended —

(a)

by deleting paragraph (a) of section 31B(1) and substituting the following paragraph:“(a)the Registrar is satisfied that the business of such person is being used or is intended to be used for an unlawful purpose or for purposes prejudicial to public peace, welfare or good order in Singapore, or that it would be contrary to the national security or interest for the person to continue to be registered under this Act; or”; and

(b)

by deleting section 31C and substituting the following section:“Supplemental provision to sections 31A and 31B31C.—

(1)

For the purpose of sections 31A and 31B, a certificate issued by the Minister charged with the responsibility for internal security stating that he is satisfied that it would be contrary to the national security or interest for the person named in the certificate to be registered or to continue to be registered under this Act shall be conclusive evidence of the matters so stated.(2) Section 31B(2) shall not apply in a case where the Registrar cancels the registration of a person under section 31B(1)(a) pursuant to a certificate referred to in subsection (1).”.
