Notice of obstruction of gas main or other apparatus

(1)

Where any gas main, gas service pipe, internal pipe or other apparatus placed in, on, over, under, upon, along or across any premises for the use by, or supply or conveyance of gas to, the occupier of the premises becomes obstructed or in any way damaged, the occupier shall, immediately on the obstruction or damage coming to his knowledge, give notice thereof to the gas transporter or gas retailer.

Any occupier who neglects to give notice under subsection (1) after acquiring such knowledge shall be guilty of an offence and his premises may be disconnected by the gas transporter or the supply of gas to his premises may be discontinued by the gas retailer until the necessary repairs are effected or the obstruction removed.
