Amendment of section 43
Section 43(1) of the principal Act is amended —
(a)
by inserting, immediately after paragraph (e), the following paragraph:“(ea)being the owner of any animal, abandons the animal without reasonable cause or excuse, whether permanently or not, in circumstances likely to cause the animal any unnecessary suffering or distress, or causes or permits the animal to be so abandoned;”;
(b)
by deleting “$500” in the 34th line and in the last line and substituting in each case “$10,000”; and
(c)
by deleting the words “6 months” in the 35th line and substituting the words “12 months”.
