Clause 18

Amendment of section 39

Section 39 of the principal Act is amended —

(a)

by inserting, immediately after the words “Complaints Committees” in the 1st line of subsection (1), the words “and Disciplinary Committees”;

(b)

by deleting the words “3 members” in subsection (1)(a) and substituting the words “10 members”;

(c)

by inserting, immediately after the word “persons” in subsection (1)(c), the words “nominated by the Minister”; and

(d)

by deleting subsection (2) and substituting the following subsection:“(2) The term of office of a member of the Complaints Panel referred to in subsection (1)(a) shall expire at the end of his term of office as member of the Medical Council, and a member of the Complaints Panel referred to in subsection (1)(b) or (c) shall be appointed for a term of 2 years; and any member shall be eligible for reappointment.”.
