Clause 7

Amendment of section 20

Section 20 of the principal Act is amended —

(a)

by inserting, immediately after the words “Singapore degree” in subsection (1), the words “and a certificate of experience”; (b)by inserting, immediately after the words “Medical Council” where they first appear in the 3rd line of subsection (2), the words “, complies with section 27”; and

(c)

by inserting, immediately after subsection (2), the following subsection:“(3) Notwithstanding subsections (1) and (2), the Medical Council may, if it is of the view that it is not in the public interest for a person referred to in either of those subsections to be registered as a fully registered medical practitioner, direct that he be registered as a medical practitioner with conditional registration in Part II of the Register of Medical Practitioners, and section 21(4) to (8) shall apply accordingly.”.
