New sections 18A and 18B

The principal Act is amended by inserting, immediately after section 18, the following sections:“Composition of offences18A.—

(1)

The Director may, in his discretion, compound any offence under this Act which is prescribed as a compoundable offence by collecting from a person reasonably suspected of having committed the offence a sum not exceeding $2,000.(2) On payment of such sum of money, no further proceedings shall be taken against such person in respect of the offence.Amendment of Second Schedule18B.—

(1)

The Minister may, from time to time, by order in the Gazette, amend, add to or vary the Second Schedule.(2) Any order made under subsection (1) shall be presented to Parliament as soon as possible after publication in the Gazette.”.
