Amendment of section 43
Section 43 of the Immigration Act is amended —
(a)
by inserting, immediately after subsection (1), the following subsection:“(1A) Notwithstanding subsection (1), an immigration officer may demand security from the master, owner, charterer or agent of any vessel to ensure that no member of the crew of the vessel shall disembark in or enter Singapore in contravention of the provisions of this Act or the regulations, and may refuse to release the vessel from examination until the security is furnished.”;
(b)
by inserting, immediately after the words “subsection (1)” in subsection (2), the words “or (1A)”; and
(c)
by inserting, immediately after the words “subsection (1)” in subsection (4), the words “or (1A)”.
