Composition of offences
(1)
The Commissioner may, in his discretion, compound any offence under this Act as may be prescribed as being an offence which may be compounded by collecting from the person reasonably suspected of having committed the offence a sum amounting to —
(a)
one half of the amount of the maximum fine that is prescribed for the offence; or
(b)
$2,000,whichever is the lower.
(2)
Notwithstanding the payment of the composition amount under subsection (1), any compensation, damages, fees, costs or expenses which are provided to be paid under this Act shall remain payable.
(3)
On payment of the composition amount under subsection (1), no further proceedings shall be taken against that person in respect of the offence.
