Amendment of section 27
Section 27 of the principal Act is amended —
(a)
by deleting the words “$1,000 or 5% of the ascertained value of the estate, whichever is the smaller” in the 3rd and 4th lines of subsection (1) and substituting the words “the amount specified in subsection (5)”; and
(b)
by inserting, immediately after subsection (4), the following subsection:“(5) For the purpose of subsection (1), the amount specified —
(a)
in the case of a person dying before 1st January 2005, is $1,000 or 5% of the ascertained value of the estate, whichever is the smaller;
(b)
in the case of a person dying on or after 1st January 2005, is $6,000.”.
