New section 31A
The principal Act is amended by inserting, immediately after section 31, the following section:“Power to require recall of weighing or measuring instrument supplied31A.—
(1)
Where any person has supplied any weighing or measuring instrument which is, or which the Controller has reason to believe is, in contravention of this Act or any subsidiary legislation made thereunder, the Controller may require the person to effect a recall of any weighing or measuring instrument supplied by him.(2) Any person who fails to comply with a requirement of the Controller made under subsection (1) shall be guilty of an offence.”.
