Clause 21

Amendment of section 26

Section 26 of the Dentists Act is amended —

(a)

by inserting, immediately after subsection (1), the following subsection:“(1A) No person other than a registered oral health therapist who has in force a practising certificate shall take or use the title of oral health therapist or any name, title, addition or description implying, whether in itself or in the circumstances in which it is used, that that person is qualified to heal or treat dental disorders or derangement, whether by dentistry or any other means of any kind or description whatsoever.”;

(b)

by inserting, immediately after the words “subsection (1)” in subsection (2), the words “or (1A)”; and

(c)

by inserting, immediately after the word “dentist” in the section heading, the word “, etc.”.
