Procedure as to offences committed in court, etc.
When any such offence as is described in section 175, 178, 179, 180 or 228 of the Penal Code (Cap. 224) is committed in the view or presence of any civil or criminal court other than the High Court, the court may cause the offender to be detained in custody and at any time before the rising of the court on the same day may, if it thinks fit, take cognizance of the offence and sentence the offender to a fine not exceeding $500 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 3 months or to both.
