Interpretation
(1)
In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires —
Definition
“Convention” means the Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction which was signed at The Hague on 25th October 1980;
Definition
“Court” means the High Court or a Judge thereof;
Definition
“Minister” means —
(a)
except as provided in paragraph (b), the Minister charged with the responsibility for child welfare and protection; and
(b)
for the purposes of Part IV, the Minister charged with the responsibility for legal aid.
(2)
Unless the contrary intention appears, words and expressions used in this Act have the same meanings as in the provisions of the Convention set out in the Schedule.
