Clause 11

Security deposit

(1)

The Commissioner may, at any time, if he thinks it is necessary for the protection of revenue, require a promoter of any private lottery to furnish a security deposit of such amount and in such manner as he may determine.

(2)

The form of the security deposit shall be specified by the Commissioner.

(3)

The Commissioner may forfeit the security deposit or any part thereof if he is satisfied that the promoter of the private lottery —

(a)

is unable to or has failed to pay any duty or penalty required to be paid under this Act; or

(b)

has contravened section 15(4).

(4)

A promoter of a private lottery who, without reasonable cause, fails to furnish such security deposit as is required under subsection (1) shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $5,000.
