Clause 65

Energy and environment impact surveys

(1)

The Director-General may, from time to time, undertake investigations or surveys of the levels of energy consumption, energy production or greenhouse gas emissions for the purposes of —

(a)

assessing the impact on the environment of certain industries or activities; or

(b)

advising the Minister or other public bodies concerning energy or environmental policies.

(2)

For the purpose of any investigation or survey under subsection (1), the Director-General may by notice in writing require any person to furnish him, within such time and in such form and manner as he may specify, such information relating to the energy consumption, energy production or greenhouse gas emissions of that person as the Director-General may require.

(3)

Any person to whom a notice under subsection (2) is directed who fails, without reasonable excuse, to comply with the notice shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $2,000.
