Repeal and re-enactment of section 21
Section 21 of the principal Act is repealed and the following section substituted therefor:“False or misleading statements, etc.
21. If at any time a person seeking or receiving legal aid or legal advice —
(a)
knowingly makes any false or misleading statement or representation in his application for legal aid or legal advice;
(b)
fails to make full and frank disclosure of his means; or
(c)
fails to inform the Director of any changes to his means or circumstances which may render him ineligible for legal aid,the person shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $5,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months or to both.”.
