Clause 64

Misleading officer, refusal to answer questions, produce documents, etc.

Any person who —

(a)

misleads any other person on whom a duty, function or power is imposed on him under this Act in any material particular which is likely to affect the discharge thereof;

(b)

refuses to answer any question lawfully put to him, or to produce documents in his possession or custody lawfully demanded of him;

(c)

refuses to give all reasonable assistance to any person who is carrying out any duty, function or power imposed on him under this Act; or

(d)

refuses to attend as a witness before the Director, an inspector, a surveyor of ships or a person duly authorised by the Director under section 58, or to furnish a sworn statement when required by the Director or an inspector,shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $5,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months or to both.
