Amendment of section 66

Section 66 of the Companies Act is amended by deleting subsections (2) and (3) and substituting the following subsections:“(2) The bearer of a share warrant issued before 29 December 1967 shall, in the 2‑year period after the date of commencement of section 34 of the Companies (Amendment) Act 2014, be entitled to surrender it for cancellation and to have his name entered in the register of members.(3) The company shall be responsible for any loss incurred by any person by reason of the company entering in the register the name of a bearer of a share warrant issued before 29 December 1967 in respect of the shares therein specified without the warrant being surrendered and cancelled.(4) A company shall cancel any share warrant which is issued by a company before 29 December 1967 that is unaccounted for by the expiry of the 2‑year period referred to in subsection (2), and the company shall not be responsible for any loss incurred by any person by reason of such cancellation.”.
