New section 112A
The principal Act is amended by inserting, immediately after section 112, the following section: “Power to compound112A.—
The Minister may, by regulations, prescribe any offence under this Act (except a service offence or disciplinary offence) as a compoundable offence. (2) The Commissioner may compound any offence under this Act which is so prescribed as a compoundable offence by collecting from a person reasonably suspected of having committed the offence a sum not exceeding the lower of the following:
one half of the amount of the maximum fine that is prescribed for the offence; (b)$5,000.(3) On payment of such sum of money, no further proceedings are to be taken against that person in respect of the offence.”.
