Clause 40

Appointment of Chief Executive

(1)

The Chief Executive —

(a)

is responsible to the Authority for the proper administration and management of the functions and affairs of the Authority in accordance with the policy laid down by the Authority; and

(b)

may be known by such designation as the Authority may determine.

(2)

The Authority must, with the approval of the Minister, appoint an individual to be the Chief Executive, and the Minister must consult the Public Service Commission before giving that approval.

(3)

The Authority may remove the Chief Executive from office only with the approval of the Minister, and the Minister must consult the Public Service Commission before giving that approval.

(4)

The terms and conditions of the Chief Executive’s appointment are to be determined by the Authority.

(5)

The Authority may appoint an individual to act temporarily as the Chief Executive during any period, or during all periods, when the Chief Executive —

(a)

is absent from duty or Singapore; or

(b)

is, for any reason, unable to perform the duties of the office.
