Amendment of Article 37D
Article 37D of the Constitution is amended —
by renumbering the Article as clause (1) of that Article, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following clause:“(2) The following matters are to be considered by the President before he acts in his discretion to appoint a person as a member, and also by the Prime Minister, Chief Justice and the Chairman of the Public Service Commission before advising the President to appoint a person as a member:
whether the person is a person of integrity, good character and reputation;
whether the person has expertise and experience relevant to the matters on which the Council is required, or may be asked, to advise and make recommendations to the President.”; and
by inserting, immediately after the word “members” in the Article heading, the words “and considerations in appointing members”.
