Repeal and re‑enactment of section 39

Section 39 of the principal Act is repealed and the following section substituted therefor:“Obstruction of police officers under section 29 or 38 or Commissioner under section 30(8A)

39. Any person who wilfully obstructs —

(a)

any police officer in the exercise of any power conferred by or under section 29(3) or 38(2); or

(b)

the Commissioner in the exercise of the power conferred by or under section 30(8A),shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $20,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months or to both.”.
