Amendment of section 54
Section 54 of the principal Act is amended —
(a)
by deleting the words “at which a new council is elected by” in subsection (1)(e) and substituting the word “of”; and
(b)
by inserting, immediately after subsection (3), the following subsection:“(3A) However, an appointment under subsection (3) of a person to fill a vacancy is of no effect if the person does not consent orally in person or in writing to that appointment.”.
