Clause 19

Miscellaneous amendments to penalties

(1)

The sections of the Charities Act specified in the first column of the Schedule to this Act are amended by deleting the fine or term of imprisonment or both and further fine (if any) specified in the second column of that Schedule opposite that section and substituting in each case the fine or term of imprisonment or both and further fine (if any), as the case may be, specified in the third column of that Schedule.

Section 14(5) of the Charities Act is amended by deleting the words “the person shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $5,000 and, in the case of a continuing offence, to a further fine not exceeding $50 for every day or part thereof during which the offence continues after conviction, and” and substituting the words “without affecting any regulations made under section 48(3A) for such failure,”.
