Amendment of section 111
The principal Act is amended by renumbering section 111 as subsection (1) of that section, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following subsection:“(2) Without affecting the generality of subsection (1), rules may be made by the Authority to make provision about the operation of private hire car booking services, including —
the responsibilities and duties of a private hire car booking service operator, including a duty —
to take reasonable steps to ensure that each affiliated driver either holds a vocational licence that authorises the driver to drive the bookable vehicle, or is exempted under this Act from holding such a licence;
to provide information and reports about the operator, and its affiliated drivers, and the private hire car booking service it provides to the Authority; and
to provide the Authority an address in Singapore at which notices and other documents under this Act may be served on the private hire car booking service operator; and
providing that any contravention of any provision of the rules shall be an offence punishable with a fine not exceeding $10,000.”.
