Repeal and re-enactment of section 6

Section 6 of the Films Act is repealed and the following section substituted therefor:“Licence to import, distribute or publicly exhibit film6.—

(1)

A person must not —

(a)

import any film in the course of any business;

(b)

distribute any film in the course of any business; or

(c)

publicly exhibit any film in the course of any business,unless the person is authorised to do so by a licence or class licence.(2) A person who contravenes subsection (1) shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $40,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months or to both and, in the case of a continuing offence, to a further fine not exceeding $500 for every day or part of a day during which the offence continues after conviction.”.
