Amendment of section 248
Section 248 of the Code is amended —
(a)
by deleting the words “of sound mind and” in subsections (1), (2) and (3);
(b)
by deleting the words “of unsound mind and” in subsections (2), (3) and (5) and substituting in each case the words “, by reason of unsoundness of mind or any physical or mental condition,”; and
(c)
by deleting the words “and he may be detained in a psychiatric institution” in subsection (5) and substituting the words “, and the court may order that the accused be remanded in a psychiatric institution, a prison or any other suitable place of safe custody”.
