Clause 9

Amendment of section 40

Section 40 of the principal Act is amended —

(a)

by deleting the word “and” at the end of subsection (2)(a);

(b)

by deleting the full-stop at the end of paragraph (b) of subsection (2) and substituting the word “; and”, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following paragraph:“(c)a clearly demarcated area within which a voter must mark his vote for a candidate.”;

(c)

by deleting the words “specified in section 37(5) and (6); and” in subsection (3)(a) and substituting the words “of their surnames and, if there are 2 or more candidates with the same surname, of their other names;”;

(d)

by inserting, immediately after paragraph (a) of subsection (3), the following paragraph:“(aa)a list of the groups of candidates, arranged alphabetically in English in the order of the surname of the first candidate in each group and, if 2 or more of such candidates have the same surname, of their other names;”; and

(e)

by deleting the full-stop at the end of paragraph (b) of subsection (3) and substituting the word “; and”, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following paragraph:“(c)a clearly demarcated area within which a voter must mark his vote for a group of candidates.”.
