Amendment of section 80
Section 80 of the Electricity Act is amended —
(a)
by deleting the words “other than an electricity licensee” in subsection (1);
(b)
by deleting the words “carries out” in subsection (4) and substituting the words “commences or carries out, or causes or permits the commencement or carrying out of,”; and
(c)
by inserting, immediately after subsection (6), the following subsection:“(6A) Subsection (1) does not prohibit an electricity licensee from commencing or carrying out earthworks within the vicinity of any high voltage electricity cable that belongs to or that is under the management or control of the electricity licensee.”.
