Amendment of section 56
Section 56 of the principal Act is amended —
by deleting the word “or” at the end of subsection (3)(a);
by deleting the full‑stop at the end of paragraph (b) of subsection (3) and substituting the word “; or”, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following paragraph:“(c)being required to comply with any requirement mentioned in paragraph (a) or (b), attempts to leave Singapore without the approval of the Director.”;
by inserting, immediately after subsection (3), the following subsection:“(3A) Any person who, being required to comply with any requirement mentioned in subsection (3)(a) or (b), attempts to leave Singapore without the approval of the Director shall be guilty of an offence.”; and
by deleting the words “Where a person who has failed to comply with any of the requirements referred to in subsection (3)(a) or (b) is unable to do so by reason of his age or any infirmity of body or mind, the police officer or Health Officer may, instead of arresting that person” in subsection (7) and substituting the words “A police officer or Health Officer may, instead of arresting a person mentioned in subsection (3)”.
