Consequential and related amendments to other Acts
(1)
The First Schedule to the Criminal Procedure Code (Cap. 68, 2012 Ed.) is amended —
by deleting the words “RELIGION OR” in the heading of Chapter XV;
by deleting the items relating to sections 295, 296 and 297;
by deleting the item relating to section 298 and substituting the following item:“ 298Uttering any word or making any sound in the hearing, or making any gesture, or placing any object in the sight of any person or causing any matter however represented to be seen or heard by that person, with intention to wound his racial feelingsShall not arrest without warrantSummonsBailableImprisonment for 3 years, or fine, or bothMagistrate’s Court or District Court ”; and
by deleting the words “religion or” under the second column in the item relating to section 298A.

The Fourth Schedule to the Criminal Procedure Code is amended —
by deleting the words “religion or” in the heading of Chapter XV of Part I;
by deleting the words “religious or” in the third and fourth columns of item 19 of Part I; and
by inserting, immediately after Part III, the following Part:“Part IVOFFENCE UNDER MAINTENANCE OF RELIGIOUS HARMONY ACTFirst columnSecond columnThird columnFourth columnItem No.SectionOffenceExplanatory Note57.17F(2) or (4)Knowingly engaging in conduct that insults the religion or religious belief or activity, or wounds the religious feelings, of another personCompoundable by the person whose religion or religious belief or activity is insulted or whose religious feeling is wounded”.

The Second Schedule to the Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters Act (Cap. 190A, 2001 Ed.) is amended —
by inserting, immediately after item 111, the following heading and items:“Maintenance of Religious Harmony Act (Cap. 167A) 111A.Section 17E(1), (2), (3) or (4)Urging violence on religious grounds or against religious group, etc.111B.Section 17F(1), (2), (3) or (4)Inciting hatred, ill‑will, etc.”;
by deleting the words “religious or” in the second column of item 211; and
by deleting the words “religion or” in the second column of item 212.
(4)
The Second Schedule to the Registration of Criminals Act (Cap. 268, 1985 Ed.) is amended —
by deleting the words “religion or” in the item relating to “Section 298A” in Part IA; and
by inserting, immediately after the item relating to “Immigration Act” in Part II, the following item: “Cap. 167AMaintenance of Religious Harmony Act…Sections 17E, 17F and 17G.”.
