Related amendments to other Acts

The Evidence Act (Cap. 97, 1997 Ed.) is amended by inserting, immediately after section 80A, the following section:“Proof of signature, seal, etc., on foreign public document under Apostille Convention80B. To avoid doubt, sections 76 to 80A do not affect the operation of Part 2 of the Apostille Act 2020.”.

Section 4(1) of the Singapore Academy of Law Act (Cap. 294A, 1997 Ed.) is amended by deleting the word “and” at the end of paragraph (ka), and by inserting immediately thereafter the following paragraph:“(kb)to certify the following aspects of documents executed in or emanating from Singapore for the purposes of their production in another country:
the authenticity of the signature on the document;
the capacity in which the person signing the document has acted;
where appropriate, the identity of the seal or stamp that the document bears;”.
