Clause 10

Consequential and related amendments to Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act

Section 7 of the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act (Cap. 53B) is amended —

(a)

by deleting the words “, sea waybill or a corresponding electronic transaction” in paragraph (a) of the definition of “contract for the carriage of goods by sea” in subsection (5) and substituting the words “or sea waybill”;

(b)

by deleting the words “or a corresponding electronic transaction” in paragraph (b) of the definition of “contract for the carriage of goods by sea” in subsection (5); and

(c)

by deleting subsection (6) and substituting the following subsection:“(6) For the purposes of subsection (5), “bill of lading”, “sea waybill” and “ship’s delivery order” have the meanings given by the Bills of Lading Act.”.
