Amendment of Police Force Act 2004, etc.
(1)
In the Police Force Act 2004, in section 69, delete subsections (1) and (2) and substitute —“(1) The Minister may do the following:
appoint or promote a special police officer to the rank of superintendent or above;
reduce the rank of, dismiss or discharge a special police officer of the rank of superintendent or above.(2) The Commissioner or a Deputy Commissioner may do the following:
appoint or promote a special police officer to the rank of deputy superintendent or below;
reduce the rank of, dismiss or discharge a special police officer of the rank of deputy superintendent or below.”.
(2)
If, before the date of commencement of this section, a special police officer of the rank of inspector was promoted or purportedly promoted by the Minister or the Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Home Affairs to the rank of assistant superintendent, the promotion or purported promotion is deemed to have been validly made under the Police Force Act 2004.
